Jeongeupsa Cultural Festival

The Jeongeupsa Cultural Festival is a regional cultural event held under the theme of "Jeongeupsa," the only surviving Baekje song, and the love of the woman in the song. "Jeongeupsa" is a Baekje song in which a wife prays to the moon for the safe return of her husband who has set out on a business trip; its lyrics were recorded in Hangul in the *Akhak Gwebeom* during the Joseon Dynasty. The festival aims to carry on the historical significance of Jeongeupsa and introduce Jeongeup's unique cultural resources to citizens and visitors. Major traditional events include the Chaesu-ri (water drawing ritual) in Jeonghae Village and the Yeoin-je-rye (Women's Ritual) honoring the spirit of the woman in the song. A new program for this festival is the Baekje Costume Experience, where participants wear Baekje-era clothing and headpieces for commemorative photos. The festival introduces the legend of Jeongeupsa and Baekje culture through traditional rituals and experiential activities.
